Wiltz on two wheels

After a good breakfast, outside in the sunshine, I decided to go for a bike ride in this beautiful weather. At the campsite I was told that I could rent bikes at the tourist office, which is in the castle, so I set off.

When I arrived at the castle, I was surprised by the wide choice of bikes: I could choose between a normal mountain bike, an E-Bike and a City E-Bike. My choice was an electric city bike, which is perfect for riding on city roads. The prices depend on the duration of the rental, you can choose between a half day or a full day. After filling in the form and paying the deposit, I was shown the cycle paths. Along the old railway line, you can go either to Bastogne (Belgium) or to Kautenbach.

Along the old railway line, you can either cycle to Bastogne (Belgium) or to Kautenbach.

From the pick-up point, which is 100 metres from the castle, I decided to set off for Bastogne. I started downhill and, without too much difficulty, found the cycle track that goes almost straight to Bastogne. The track is about 20km long. On arriving in Bastogne I sat in a café and enjoyed watching the hustle and bustle of the small town. Traditional Belgian fries were of course a must in order to regain strength.

On the way back, I stopped briefly at the Bastogne War Museum, which is just a stone's throw from the cycle track. Afterwards, I took the road again towards Wiltz. A little exhausted but very satisfied, I returned the bike and let the evening end. The next adventure was waiting for me the next day.
