Festival of the Broom

Since 1948, the "Festival of the Broom", known as "Geenzefest" in the local dialect, is a folk event that has become a must among the events of the Grand Duchy.

On Whit Monday, during the season when the Oesling hills are in their golden dress, a flower parade, with floats decorated with the broom flower, Luxembourg and foreign music societies, majorette battalions, folklore groups from Luxembourg and abroad, as well as international performance groups, march through the streets of Wiltz.

Each year, the Festival of the Broom has its own style and theme and is a real treat for the whole family thanks to the extensive programme of events throughout the Whitsun weekend. Thousands of spectators visit the town to enjoy themselves and, above all, see the broom queen and her parade.
